Want to be in a movie with the star of Breaking Bad?

Now you can, after the casting agency fixed a computer system badly broken.

The Infiltrator, a true crime drama starring Emmy winner Bryan Cranston, opened online applications for extras to work when the $47.5-million production visits Tampa in late April.

Thursday morning, the casting agency's computers were rendered inoperable for hours by the response.

"It crashed our server completely," said Bill Marinella of Marinella Hume Casting by telephone from New Orleans. "My server does not have the capacity to hold all the people who want to be in this movie.

"We're only there for a short two weeks. It's amazing that everyone wants to be in this movie, with the popularity of Bryan Cranston."

Applications are being accepted at marinellahumecasting.com, where aspiring extras can post a profile and photographs. Updates of the casting process are available at Facebook.com/MarinellaHumeCastingTampa.

Applicants are required to leave three selfies — no sunglasses or hat, and just you in the photo — plus costuming information including height, weight, apparel, inseam and shoe sizes, and a cell phone number. Those selected to work as extras will be informed in April.

Marinella's agency is also scouting for '80s-era vehicles, with a web page for posting photographs.

The Infiltrator stars Cranston as Robert Mazur, a Tampa resident and former undercover federal agent who infiltrated Pablo Escobar's drug money laundering empire. Set in the 1980s, Marinella said that era's look is what director Brad Furman is seeking.

"We're looking for all types," he said. "We're looking for anybody who has the '80s kind of look, with the longer, fuller hair, or maybe the '80s mustaches they had. The grittiness, the old cars, we're looking for all of that."

In addition to extras, Marinella said his agency is also hiring stand-ins and photo doubles for the featured actors. Cranston's supporting cast includes Academy Award winner Marisa Tomei and John Leguizamo.

A 12-hour day on the set pays $112, and meals will be served. Marinella expects most of the jobs to last one day, a 12-hour shift.
