One of nature's most dainty creatures gets a full-blown IMAX examination in Flight of the Butterflies (Not rated, probably G), starting Friday exclusively at Tampa's Museum of Science and Industry. The documentary specifically focuses on the migration habits of the Monarch species from hidden sanctuaries in Mexican mountains through North America and back again, a journey of nearly 3,000 miles. Nearly as remarkable is the dedication shown by Dr. Fred Urquhart, a scientist whose 40-years of researching the Monarch's evolution and migration is profiled in the film. A portion of the movie's box office revenue goes toward Monarch butterfly conservation through Mexico's Fondo Mexicano para la Conservación de la Naturaleza. Flight of the Butterflies will be shown in rotation with other films at the museum's IMAX Dome Theater. Show times and ticket information are available at www.mosi.org, or by calling (813) 987-6000.
