New movies this week

Out of the Furnace

The gist: A struggling steel-mill worker has to turn to vigilante justice to help his Iraq vet brother out of some hot water with a crime boss. Lots of fight scenes and people getting shot and overall mayhem. R

The cast: Christian Bale, Casey Affleck, Zoe Saldana, Sam Shepard, Woody Harrelson, Forest Whitaker and Willem Dafoe.

The buzz: This dreary drama is almost all alone the week after Thanksgiving, the most lonely time in all the moviegoing year. And even with this cast, it's got its rough edges. "The macho drama is nicely drawn for most of the movie, with a genuine sense of hard times in millennial America, though (director Scott) Cooper lets it drift into the sort of revenge plot that propels innumerable action movies," the Chicago Reader says.

Bollywood

R … Rajkumar

The gist: If A-list crime dramas aren't your thing, try the AMC Veterans 24 for this week's import, about … a hit man who has to kill his girlfriend's uncle. Oh, that's hilarious. No MPAA rating

The cast: Shahid Kapoor, Sonakshi Sinha and Sonu Sood.

The buzz: There are no reviews for this one, like most of the other Bollywood films that come to town, but here's some trivia: The R originally stood for Rambo, so you can see why the title has been altered. Who can afford a lawsuit in this economy?
