Sarasota Film Festival lineup announced

The careers of Oscar-winning documentarian Barbara Kopple and indie film actors Griffin Dunne and Lili Taylor will be honored at the 15th annual Sarasota Film Festival, set for April 5-15. Taylor and Dunne will be subjects of the festival's "In conversation with..." series, along with actor/activist Mariel Hemingway and director/film historian Peter Bogdanovich. The festival's opening night film selection is Blackfish, a documentary about Tilikum, the killer whale responsible for three deaths while in captivity. Noah Baumbach's comedy Frances Ha starring Greta Gerwig closes the festival. Centerpiece films in-between include Kopple's Running from Crazy, a chronicle of Hemingway's scandalous family, and The Spectacular Now, winner of a Sundance acting prize for Miles Teller and Shailene Woodley. The festival's online box office opens March 15 but membership packages ($45-$150) allowing earlier purchases are available now at — Steve Persall, Times movie critic
