Billy Idol coming to Clearwater

Billy Idol has just announced a 2013 summer tour that includes a stop on June 18 at Clearwater's Ruth Eckerd Hall. That howl you're hearing now is the sound of my 16-year-old self celebrating and punching the sky with my studded leather glove.

The BillyIdol.net presales for most shows begin Tuesday, and many shows go on sale to the general public beginning Friday. You'll have to sign up at BillyIdol.net for the presale opportunities. When you sign up you will be automatically entered into a contest to win tickets to the Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival and a meet and greet with Billy prior to his set.

Chalk up one more closure to Hurricane Irma: The huge Dia de los Muertos Fiesta originally planned for Saturday in Dunedin has been scrapped for what would have been its 25th year.

At last year’s Dia de los Muertos, Casa Tina owner Tina Marie Avila (crouching) shows her “Ofrenda,” or Day of the Dead alter. What would have been the 25th annual Dia de los Muertos Fiesta on Saturday had to be canceled this year because of Hurricane Irma. The folk festival will be back next year.
