Bonnie Raitt announces December show at Ruth Eckerd Hall

Ruth Eckerd Hall gives us somethin' to talk about, with Monday's announcement that Grammy award winner Bonnie Raitt will return in concert Dec. 3 at 8 p.m.

Tickets are $50 to $100.50, going on sale Saturday at noon, at the venue's box office or online at rutheckerdhall.com.

Raitt returns to Ruth Eckerd Hall for the first time since her sold-out performance in 2009. Since then, she collected her tenth Grammy award for her 2012 release Slipstream, in the best Americana album category. Raitt was ranked No. 50 on Rolling Stone magazine's list of the 100 greatest singers ever, and No. 89 on their list of the 100 best guitarists of all time.

Opening for Raitt on her 2013 tour is Irish singer, songwriter and multiple intstrumentalist Paul Brady, whose career includes collaborations with Eric Clapton and Mark Knopfler.

  1. Seasoned cast scores an extra-base hit for St. Petersburg Opera with 'Faust'

    Stage

TAMPA — Charles Gounod's Faust sets the table early. The world-weary philosopher immortalized in a dramatic poem by Johann Wolfgang von Goethe is in his study, lamenting his state of affairs. He's willing to give away everything he has to be young again, even his soul.

    Stage

For those who saw Taylor Trensch grow up in Tampa, his rise from promising student to star is heartwarming and entirely predictable. In January, Trensch, 28, will be moving into the title role of Dear Evan Hansen on Broadway, one of the hottest tickets in theater.
