Classical crossover star Katherine Jenkins at Straz

Katherine Jenkins has what it takes for success in the classical crossover world. The 32-year-old singer from Wales has a classically trained mezzo soprano voice and a model's good looks. Since starting her career in 2004, she has sold more than 7 million albums, and has performed with the likes of Placido Domingo, Andrea Bocelli and Paul Potts. Once she gave a concert while wearing a dress made of 2,500 poppies. Tampa Bay trivia note: In 2011, she sang God Save the Queen before the NFL game between the Buccaneers and the Chicago Bears in London. As part of the Florida Opera Festival, Jenkins and American singer-songwriter Nathan Pacheco have a concert at 8 p.m. Friday at Ferguson Hall of the Straz Center for the Performing Arts, Tampa. $100.
