Ask a handful of artists to name the greatest American rock 'n' roll band, and you might be surprised how many name Creedence Clearwater Revival. They've certainly got the resume: Tens of millions of albums sold; smash hits like Fortunate Son, Down on the Corner and Bad Moon Rising; a spot in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and more.
Singer John Fogerty and his inimitable growl were key components to CCR's success, as he's since proven with a fruitful solo career. In fact, his recent album of collaborations, Wrote a Song for Everyone, just entered the charts at No. 3.
Now Fogerty is going on tour, and he's just announced a gig at the Straz Center in Tampa on Oct. 27. Expect a night of classic rock hits, from Fogerty's CCR days through his own solo catalog (look for the baseball-bat guitar on Centerfield!) at the show.
Tickets start at $59 and they'll go on sale Friday at noon.
