Listen to the 'Spring Breakers' soundtrack streaming online

When girls-gone-gunhappy flick Spring Breakers, much of which was filmed locally, opens nationwide March 22, moviegoers will get an eyeful of R-rated seaside hijinks. But from an early listen to the movie's soundtrack — which pitchfork.com is offering via live online stream — our ears will be sweating heavy as well. Five of the 19 titles can't be printed in the bleepin' newspaper. Hardcore rap cuts by Gucci Mane (who also appears in the movie), Waka Flocka Flame and local stud Dangeruss (whose song features star James Franco) mix with throbbing instrumentals by "It DJ" Skrillex, his opening cut Scary Monsters and Nice Sprites being a grinding, hit-the-floor highlight.

But perhaps the most surprising thing about the soundtrack (which gets its album release on March 19) is how mellow it is in parts, as former Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer and indie film composer Cliff Martinez augments Skrillex's more volatile instrumentals with a meditative, chiming counterscore that suggests the movie will have quiet, contemplative moments as well. That said, club banger Hangin' With Da Dopeboys, which features Dangeruss and Franco (in the guise of his charismatic thug character Alien), suggests we're all going to have a lot of law-breakin' fun, too.

    Sometimes, the more time you have with a project, the more complicated it gets. I started hearing about Mortar & Pestle in Seminole Heights about 18 months ago. It was the vision of Ujwal Patel, a pharmacist;
