Because he sang so often, and so passionately, about the trials of pushing through pain and desperation, Linkin Park fans have taken the July 20 suicide of singer Chester Bennington really hard.
So hard in fact, that hundreds of fan-organized, band-sanctioned memorials have popped up across the nation. One will take place Saturday night in St. Petersburg, the same night Linkin Park's new tour was to hit Tampa's MidFlorida Credit Union Amphitheatre.
The event, from 6 to 9 p.m. at Vinoy Park, will feature live, recorded and sing-along music, along with other tributes and remembrances.
Hundreds of fans have already RSVP'd, with many donating hundreds of dollars to cover costs (any additional funds raised will go to the charity Music for Relief). For more information, click here or visit gofundme.com/47wzpeo.
