If you didn't get enough of them opening for Kid Rock in Tampa on Sunday, ZZ Top is bringing its boogie and blues guitars to Ruth Eckerd Hall on Dec. 27, the Clearwater concert hall announced Monday. This will be the fourth time the band has been to Ruth Eckerd Hall and it's been a sellout each time. Tickets go on sale Saturday at noon. Inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2004, the group has 11 gold records and seven platinum to lay claim as the longest-running major rock band with original personnel intact. There are only three of them, Billy F. Gibbons, Dusty Hill and Frank Beard, but it's remarkable that they're still together — and still gloriously bearded — after more than 40 years of rock, blues and boogie. They released La Futura last September, their first studio album in nine years, produced by Rick Rubin and Gibbons, and the band's rich history is also the subject of a current box set release: ZZ Top: The Complete Studio Albums 1970-1990.
Ticket are $55-$125 at the Ruth Eckerd Hall ticket office, 1111 McMullen Booth Road in Clearwater, or by calling (727) 791-7400 or online at rutheckerdhall.com.
