Restaurants:

  • Kahuna's Bar and Grill

    Cuisine: American casual
Features: Big-screen TVs, Darts, Gaming stations/trivia, Live music, Outdoor seating, Pool tables, Sports, tbt* Top Bar

Gateway: 10515 Gandy Blvd. N, St. Petersburg, 33702

It may not be the only place where Parrotheads and bikers can mingle in peace, but it's certainly the only place that also has a Lord of the Rings pinball machine. Even as a housing development is being built all around it, Kahuna's is still kicking in its spot across from Derby Lane, with games, live music out back and sweet Happy Hour specials (like $1.39 burgers from 7 to 10 p.m. Tuesdays!).

  • Bascom's Chop House

    Cuisine: Steak house
Features: Banquet facility, Children's menu, Date night, Private room

Gateway: 3665 Ulmerton Road, Clearwater, 33762

  • Courtside Grille

    Cuisine: Asian, Casual Dining
Features: Big-screen TVs, Darts, Outdoor seating, Pool tables, Sports, Takeout

Gateway: 110 Fountain Parkway N, St. Petersburg, 33716

This upscale, sporty joint scores with 9,500 square feet of airy, relaxing space that features widescreen plasma TVs at every angle, plus four giant projection cinema-style screens at the two main bars. A couple of parlor-style billiard tables, bar-top games, video golf and darts entertain customers who want to play as well as watch. Outside, an attractive porch deck with a polished wood floor and a couple of additional flat screen TVs offers an opportunity to smoke without missing a drive. This is the sports bar reinvented with under $10 sandwiches and grownup dinners for a millennial crowd. Courtside is unusually long on seafood, from mussels in red wine to shrimp salad on rye with sprouts. Much of the rest is familiar: Philly cheese steak, seafood linguine and chicken teriyaki, but done with extra style and care. A sushi bar was recently added.

  • Crab Shack Restaurant

    Cuisine: Seafood casual
Features: Children's menu, Early bird menu, Kid-friendly, Takeout

Gateway: 11400 Gandy Blvd. N, St. Petersburg, 33702

You can't get much closer to Florida's waters and working boats than this Cracker shack for pile-on-the-table blue crabs, shrimp, raw oysters and grouper. This is the kind of place to order a platter with everything fried and wash it down with a cold beer. Then ask for key lime pie.

  • Cracker Barrel Old Country Str
