Monthly dessert theatre opens at CARES

NEW PORT RICHEY — A collaborative agreement between CARES (Community Aging and Retirement Services) and local entertainer Jimmy Ferraro will bring Jimmy Ferraro’s Dessert Theatre, a series of monthly variety shows, to the CARES Elfers Center stage, 4136 Barker Drive. The former 1914 schoolhouse that now houses the CARES senior center can accommodate 150 people for the productions, offering auditorium-style seating.

Tickets are available for Sara Sings Streisand on May 6. The show features Sara Delbeato, who will sing hits made famous by Barbra Streisand. The opening act will be comedian Rick Stepinsky, whose comedy is based on the highs and lows of parenthood. Doors open at 1 p.m., with the show starting at 2 p.m. Desserts and light snacks available for purchase.

General seating tickets are $25 if purchased in person at the CARES Elfers Center, or at the CARES Rao Musunuru, M.D. Enrichment Center, 12417 Clock Tower Parkway, Hudson. Tickets purchased online are $27.99 at caresfl.org/tickets. A limited number of tickets are available that offer round-trip transportation from the CARES center in Hudson.

Those tickets are $30 and can be purchased at the CARES Travel Club (located at the Hudson center); call the club at (727) 853-3002.

Other scheduled shows include:

• June 3: Sweeney Brothers Band, a musical comedy act that blends bluegrass and folk tunes.

• July 8: The Godfather Comedy Show, a one-man show starring Joe Beddia, a comic, singer, musician and impersonator.

• Aug. 5: Divonicci, a contemporary singing quartet performing musical mixes from the Righteous Brothers to Josh Groban.

Proceeds from the shows will benefit CARES, a nonprofit organization that provides events and services for seniors, caregivers and families in Pasco County, as well as Angels of Gratitude, a nonprofit organization that provides academic and performing arts scholarships in the community.
