One of the most performed plays in American theater has become a holiday tradition for Freefall Theatre. For the third year, a musical version of Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol returns to the stage, with Steven Patterson reprising his role as Ebenezer Scrooge. The 22-person cast also includes artistic director Eric Davis as Jacob Marley and Mr. Fezziwig, plus a chorus of bay area children. This year the ghost story has new special effects and lighting. And coming up is Tiny Tim's Toy Drive at the Dec. 14 matinee; bring an unwrapped toy and receive a free child's ticket. All toys will be donated to Toys for Tots. The show opens at 8 p.m. Saturday, with previews at 8 p.m. Friday and 2 p.m. Saturday; it continues through Dec. 24. $20-$44. The theater is at 6099 Central Ave., St. Petersburg.
