D.L. Hughley brings standup show to Improv

Just last week FX announced it was developing an autobiographical comedy starring a standup comedian. No, not Louis C.K. They already have that one. This one is by D.L. Hughley, "an unapologetically honest family man and radio host." The star of the sitcom The Hughleys and one of the four comedians featured in the Spike Lee film The Original Kings of Comedy, Hughley has had a wide-ranging career in acting, writing and even political commentary on CNN's D.L. Hughley Breaks the News. He's famous for his politically savvy satire that is often counter to conventional wisdom. You can see his standup act at 8 and 10:30 p.m. Friday and at 7:30 and 10 p.m. Saturday at the Improv in Centro Ybor, 1600 E Eighth Ave., Tampa. $30.
