New Century Opera performs Verdi's Il Trovatore (The Troubadour), sung in English, at the Tarpon Springs Performing Arts Center, 324 Pine St. Under the artistic direction of Constantine Grame, it features the Anvil Chorus as well as a colorful array of characters (gypsies, jailers, soldiers and nuns). Mickey and Milt Bronson created the costumes typical of the Spanish Renaissance. Performances are today and Saturday at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday at 2 p.m. Tonight's reception at 6:30 is hosted by the Tarpon Springs Chamber of Commerce. Tickets: $22; $18 for members, students and veterans. Tickets may be purchased online at tarponarts.org or by calling the box office at (727) 942-5605.
