Stage West to present the musical 'Young Frankenstein'

Mel Brooks' hit musical Young Frankenstein opens Oct. 19 and continues weekends through Oct. 29 at Stage West Community Playhouse, 8390 Forest Oaks Blvd., Spring Hill. Officially named The New Mel Brooks Musical, Young Frankenstein, the show is a musical adaptation of Brooks' 1974 classic movie (co-written by and starring Gene Wilder) that parodies the 1930s horror film genre. The show, which won the Outer Critics Circle Award for Best Musical in 2008, features music and lyrics by Mel Brooks. The director for the Stage West production is Dalton Benson, with musical direction by Carol Ballard and choreography by Sydney Campo. The show features Rich Krasowski as Dr. Frankenstein, Keith Surplus as Igor, Star Verosic as Inga, Lynda Dilts-Benson as Frau Blucher, Jennifer Agnelli as Elizabeth, Jay Garcia as Kemp, Brady Lay as the Monster, Dave Stenger as the Hermit, Chazz Kleber as Ziggy and Stan Kane as Victor Frankenstein. Showtimes are at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 19 and on Fridays and Saturdays and at 2 p.m. Sundays. Tickets vary from $19 to $25. Visit stagewestflorida.com or call the box office at (352) 683-5113.
