'Venus in Fur' full of seductive suspense

The recent Broadway hit Venus in Fur is commonly called a sex comedy, but don't expect a farce with naughty secretaries. The suspenseful David Ives show is much darker and erotic, a seductive power play that keeps you guessing. On the Stageworks Theatre website, bold pink letters warn "adult explicit language and situations." Twice. We think they mean it. The play stars Georgina McKee and Brendan Ragan and is directed by Anna Brennen. It opens Friday ($35), with a preview tonight ($10), at 1120 E Kennedy Blvd., Tampa. $26, $22 seniors, $10 students. (813) 727-2708. Through Nov. 24.
