Closings

- Steakhouse closes in St. Petersburg
  - Max & Sam's Bar & Grill had its last night on Saturday at its 1700 Park St. N location.
- No more of their Osso Bucco
  - Max & Sam's Bar & Grill is closing for now. They had been in their St. Pete location for a couple of years, and before that, out on the beach with a well known piano bar.
- Museum is moving
  - Time is running out to visit the Panama Canal Museum in Seminole. It will close at the end of this month. The collection is headed for the University of Florida.
- Two FYE stores close
  - You probably didn’t notice, but the Tyrone Square Mall FYE closed this week. So did the one at Westfield Countryside in Clearwater.
- Globe Coffee Lounge closing
  - After a 12-year run as a local fave for heady coffee and even headier arts events, JoEllen Schilke is closing Globe Coffee Lounge in St. Petersburg on Wednesday.
- Two fine dining restaurants closing
  - Bistro Bleu on S MacDill in Tampa and Fetishes Fine Dining in St. Pete Beach are calling it quits.
- Ybor's Empire night club closes
  - CYbor City's controversial Empire Night Club, the scene of a fatal shooting last month, has closed, an attorney for the business told Tampa's City Council on Thursday.
- Beloved taco stand closes
  - Tampa night owls will be going hungry. Longtime Ybor City late-night spot Mema's Alaskan Tacos, at 1724 E Eighth Ave., has closed its doors.
- Dal'Italia closes
  - Dal'Italia Ristorante & Pizza has closed in St. Pete, but aan Athenian Garden will open in the location next month.
- New home for Laughing Cat
  - Laughing Cat in Ybor City opened in its new digs this weekend. Meanwhile, two Pinellas restaurants closed their doors.
- Chouinard's closes
  - Despite a glowing review in the St. Petersburg Times, Chouinard's Cuisine has closed its doors.
- La Cachette restaurant closes
  - After 50 years of running restaurants, Martin and Beulah Jackson have closed their La Cachette de la Plage at 635 Cleveland St. in Clearwater.
- Banyan Coffee closes in St. Pete
  - After nearly three years of serving up coffee and house-roasted turkey sandwiches, St. Petersburg's Banyan Coffee and Tea has closed quietly.
- Oldsmar Tap House closes
  - Owner Tony Falso (shown) says he has sold his business to House of Brews, which has a location in Lutz. He cites the growing number of craft beer bars that have sprung up as making it hard to compete.
- Dunedin restaurant closes
  - Walt's Seasonal Cuisine announced the closing in a newsletter. The chef/owner will concentrate on his new waterfront fish market. Meanwhile, his old space already has new owners and a new name: Bistro Atlantis.
- Beach restaurant closes
  - Captain Kosmakos Seafood and Steakhouse on Treasure Island is closed and has been sold.
- Ybor restaurant closes
  - Gay-friendly Streetcar Charlie's shuts its doors abruptly after three years in business. It had been in Chapter 11 bankruptcy.
- Savannah's calls it quits
  - Downtown St. Petersburg's Savannah's Cafe will close at the end of the month. The Southern cuisine restaurant hopes to return some day.
- Messineo's closes abruptly
  - The gourmet market serving downtown St. Petersburg condo dwellers announced it was kaput to its Groupon customers. It had been open less than a year.
- Lunch spot closes in St. Pete
  - G's Rotisserie, located in the Snell Arcade, was known for its huge pita wraps, and also served breakfast.
