- Notorious Channelside bar moving to St. Petersburg
  - Banana Joe's and Margarita Mama, which closed at Tampa's Channelside in 2009, are opening in the historic Kress building this summer.
- Here comes the Red Elephant
  - The Red Elephant Cafe is another new restaurant chain created by former executives from Outback Steakhouse.
- The Venue reopening
  - The Venue night club and restaurant has new owners, a new name and is hiring 75 people Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.
- James Joyce Irish Pub returns
  - Just in time for leprechauns, James Joyce Irish Pub opens Monday in the former Eighth Avenue location of Mema's Alaskan Tacos.
- Fitness chain arrives
  - Fitness center chain Kosama is opening the first of four local locations next month in Westchase. It almost moved its headquarters to Tampa Bay, too.
- Urban Cantina heads to Howard
  - The restaurant will have the same menu of Mexican specialties as Urban Cantina's Madison Street location in Tampa.
- Pizza pie time
  - Pizza impresario Peter Taylor held a soft opening on Friday for his second Wood Fired Pizza in downtown St. Petersburg.
- Just roll with it
  - Sushi-making robots and a Mexican grill add to the options near St. Petersburg's Plaza Tower.
- Ragin' Sports Grill keeps growing
  - Tampa's Channel District is home to itsthird location in the chain and the first with a full service bar and sports theme.
- No end to Taco Bus craze
  - When the third Taco Bus opens in downtown Tampa on Wednesday, we guarantee there'll be a line.
- More beer by the beach
  - Salt Rock Grill is gearing up for changes — its Salty Seas bar will undergo a conversion to a craft beer room by springtime.
- Coffee, Cuban food and cleavage
  - Baristas in bikinis; Kahwa coffee perks up downtown Tampa; Mojitos' lively Latin menu.
- High-profile tastes coming
  - Restaurateur Gordon Davis will open Samba Room in mid February and Boca Kitchen Bar and Market later this month.
- Mexican from scratch
  - Sea Dog Cantina serves Mexican fare in the Channel District, nearby Eleventwenty Cafe Bistro will do breakfast and lunch.
- Florida fare and more
  - Restaurant openings are coming fast and furiously, with all-new concepts, new locations and some blasts-from-the-past reemerging.
- New shops for Gateway
  - Tenants at the new Ibis Walk will include Eggstyle, an upscale restaurant featuring omelets, crepes, waffles, smoothies and gourmet coffees.
- What's new in Florida in 2012
  - A new Marlins stadium opens in April, and then there's also a huge new children's museum in South Florida and a makeover for the Ford-Edison Estate.
- Build a better soap
  - The Soap Factory opens in New Tampa, offering 70 ways to make you fresh.
- A new bistro in South Tampa
  - Manhattan Dolce Bar and Bistro will offer small plates, a full bar and live music. It's at the corner of Manhattan Avenue and El Prado Boulevard.
- Ron Jon opening at beach
  - The iconic east coast surf shop will join a Hooters opening in a new retail complex on Clearwater Beach. It's the area's first full-fledged shop (joining a a smaller one that is open at TIA).
