Back "by popular demand" Busch Gardens has announced the Tampa theme park will once again have a fireworks on weekends this summer, and the park also brought back its deal that gets you a free pass to Adventure Island water park with the purchase of a Fun Card .
Fireworks used to be a summer staple as part of the park’s "Summer Nights" series of nightly parties, extended hours and stage shows. But the rockets’ red glare was cut in recent years as Busch Gardens’ parent company SeaWorld imposed companywide cost cuts. The fireworks were absent in 2017 and the park split the nighttime entertainment into three party zones with special food, drinks and entertainment.
The fireworks will be joined by special entertainment on Gwazi field starting at 8:30 p.m. with fireworks at 9:30 Friday through Sunday nights now through Aug. 5, said park spokeswoman Karen Varga-Sinka.
A Fun Card deal that offered a free pass to Adventure Island water park with the purchase of $99 Fun Card expired in March, but the park has revived it. The pass allows unlimited admission to Busch Gardens through Dec. 31 and at Adventure Island through Oct. 14. The offer expires July 1, and is available at buschgardens.com.
Another perk back "by popular demand" this summer is free beer. Two free 7-ounce beers are handed out daily at Garden Gate Cafe through Aug. 5 for guests 21 and older. The free beer was another park staple back when the park was owned by Anheiser-Busch. After the Blackstone Group bought SeaWorld and Busch Gardens, the free beer came to an end.
