Meet Patty, the new baby giraffe at Busch Gardens

This weekend brought a leggy baby giraffe to Busch Gardens who, at just at just 4 days old, is already 5 feet 5 inches tall and weighs 105 pounds.

Named Patty, the baby born on the eve of St. Patrick's Day is the third giraffe calf born at Busch Gardens in the last four months. Visitors will soon see her and her mother, Bititi, on the Tampa theme park's Serengeti Plain.

This birth is part of Busch Gardens' participation in the Association of Zoos and Aquariums' Species Survival Plan. The mission is to cooperatively manage specific, and typically threatened or endangered species populations within AZA-accredited facilities.

"Busch Gardens' participation helps create genetically diverse, self-sustaining populations to guarantee the long-term future of these animals," a park press release said.

PREVIOUSLY: Busch Gardens Fun Card deal including free Adventure Island pass expires March 25.

On Jan. 22, keepers at the park announced the birth another female girl, Angel, born to mother Cupid. Angel weighs about 150 pounds and was already six feet tall.

On Thanksgiving morning, a boy giraffe was 6 feet tall and 150 pounds at birth. He was named Quinn, born to Celina.
