Universal to fill 3,000 jobs as ‘Fast & Furious’ ride, new hotels race to open

Universal Orlando Resort has finally given a hint about the opening of the new Fast & Furious – Supercharged attraction coming some time in May. And the company is looking for more than 3,000 new workers as it opens new attractions and hotels this summer.

The public opening date for the ride hasn’t officially been announced, but there’s a media and VIP party on the evening of May 2. Don’t be surprised if there are some chances to ride it earlier as the park goes through "technical rehearsals" to make sure the ride is running smoothly. Soft openings are common for new attractions, but you can’t count on it being open if you visit before the grand opening.

The ride expands upon the popular film series, and guests will see Dom’s Dodge Charger parked outside. They will then travel through recognizable locations in the queue, like the Family Room and Tej’s high-tech War Room.

Universal has been in a constant state of growth ever since the blockbuster Harry Potter land opened in 2010. The company intends to hire people for 3,000 positions to handle the summer season, the company announced Thursday.

Universal is opening the Aventura Hotel with 600 rooms in a 16-story tower in August and is planning to build two new hotels with 2,800 rooms total at the site of the former Wet ’n Wild water park that the company owns. There has also been speculation about Universal constructing a new theme park in Orlando after the company spent the last year buying up huge chunks of land.

The job openings are for part-time and full-time work in several departments including attractions, food services and custodial as well as information technology, finance, marketing or human resources. The jobs come "competitive salaries and comprehensive benefits packages" as well as other perks such as free park admission and guest passes, Universal said in a news release.
