Video: Aquatica's huge new water slide drops you from eight stories high

Aquatica, SeaWorld's water park, opened a new high-speed thrill slide Friday called Ihu's Breakaway Falls, in which the floor disappears and riders drop 20-24 feet per second. It is the only high-speed water thrill slide in the world with three breakaway boxes that face each other so riders can share the full experience, a park news release says. Riders climb steps eight stories high to get to the beginning, a futuristic-looking tube that they stand in with arms crossed. Then the floor drops and they go shooting down an 80-foot tall tubelike water slide. The Orlando water park is unique in that some of the water rides pass by or through animal habitats. It has 42 slides, rivers and lagoons and 84,000 square feet of sandy beaches. Single-day tickets start at just $28 if you order online in advance, $46 otherwise. Annual passes start at $96 at AquaticaOrlando.com. taff writer
