Disney announced that its new Seven Dwarfs Mine Train ride will open May 28 at the Magic Kingdom, putting the final railroad tie into the huge expansion of Fantasyland in the world's most popular theme park.
The park held a special dedication ceremony Friday, where Walt Disney World Parks and Resorts chairman Tom Staggs called the family ride the "crowning jewel" of New Fantasyland.
The ride features state-of-the-art audio and animatronic figures, accompanied by music from the classic film and scenes filled with Snow White, the Seven Dwarfs and playful forest critters.
The Magic Kingdom remains the most visited theme park in the world, with more than 17 million visitors last year, up 2.3 percent from the year before, according to a report released in February by the Themed Entertainment Association.
With a dedication ceremony almost four weeks before the ride's official opening, Disney fans are keeping an eye out for soft opening days where park visitors might just happen onto the ride.
