Adventure Island brought a screamer of a new water slide on board this summer called Colossal Curl, (above) a 622-foot-long thrill slide with a "weightless wave wall" that leaves riders a little breathless in the finale.

A clover-shaped raft takes its riders high up the walls and soaks them with lots of twists and turns. But the ultimate kicker is the big finish when you get sucked into a steep roller-coaster-type drop that propels you into weightlessness. Yikes.

Now the park's tallest ride at 70 feet, Colossal Curl lasts only 42 seconds. You need at least two riders per four-person raft, with the total weight restriction set at 700 pounds. The height requirement is 48 inches.

The water park across the street from Busch Gardens is spread across 30 acres, with a family friendly lazy river, kiddie play areas, lots of slides and a Rip Tide racer with four open-air lanes for a very serious drenching. You're allowed to bring in coolers (no larger than 15 inches tall or 16 quarts total). Even if your coolers are too large to bring in, you can access the picnic pavilion just outside the entrance.

From June 11 through Aug. 8, Adventure Island brings back Island Nights, a Thursday to Saturday sunset celebration with live music, eclectic entertainment, island foods and extended hours until 9 p.m.

The park also offers a Cashless Wristband, a waterproof park spending system you can pick up at the ticket booth and load with cash or credit card. Any unused cash is refunded at the end of the day at guest relations.
