Merlin Entertainments announced Tuesday that the colossal Orlando Eye observation wheel on International Drive will open May 4. The neighboring Madame Tussauds wax museum and Sea Life Orlando Aquarium will also open the same day.

They also said visitors who sign up for the attraction e-newsletter on officialoralndoeye.com can get special limited access opportunities to all three attractions May 1-3, ahead of the May 4 grand opening.

The 400-foot-tall observation wheel, only slightly shorter than the famed London Eye, now has all 30 capsules in place, each one seating 15 people. The air-conditioned capsules will have interactive tablets providing information on the 360-degree views of Central Florida. The wheel is the star attraction in the I-Drive 360 entertainment complex.

Merlin last week released ticket prices: $18 for one ride. Combination ticket prices for the wheel, Madame Tussauds and Sea Life Aquarium are $35 in advance for adults online now. The biggest combo package for $89 online or $99 day of also throws in a ticket to the Legoland theme park in Winter Haven with the three attractions in I-Drive 360 — all of which are owned by Merlin Entertainments Group.
