After canceling its grand opening June 12 because of last-minute problems, Wet 'n Wild water park in Orlando quietly opened its new Aqua Drag Racer attraction last weekend. It's touted as the tallest and fastest water-based racing attraction of its kind in Florida. Standing six stories tall and featuring four parallel racing lanes, riders will take their place at a starting line that is 65 feet high and race through enclosed, twisting tunnels moving 15 feet per second before winding up at a finish line. The water park, which is owned by Universal Orlando, has more than 15 themed rides and attractions. Admission starts at $36 online, but there are various combo packages at UniversalOrlando.com, and starting today the park is offering half-priced admission after 5 p.m. through Aug. 16. —Sharon Kennedy Wynne, Times staff writer
