Deal alert: The Dali Museum offers $10 admission on Friday

DALÍ DEAL ALERT: NATIONAL MUSEUM DAY

Friday is National Museum Day, not to be confused with Free Museum Day, which happens in September. Not as many local institutions participate in this day, except for the Dalí Museum, which will offer $10 admission for all Florida residents at the door; not available online. It’s a great time to take advantage of the deal, as the Dalí/Duchamp exhibit, which explores the relationship and collaborations between the surrealist and the "father of conceptual art," closes on May 27. This will likely be a popular day to come, so get there early. Hours are 10 a.m.-5:30 p.m. 1 Dalí Blvd., St. Petersburg.

UNEXPECTED SPACES: DRIVE-BY WINDOWS

Art consultant Katherine Gibson of Arthouse3 created the Drive-By Windows project to showcase the work of artists in the front window of video production studio Roundhouse Creative. Currently on display is the site-specific installation Manicure from artist Jenal Dolson. Since the space has a permanent installation created by Anthony Zollo, Gibson has carefully chosen artists whose work would play well with it. Gibson recently received a grant from the St. Petersburg Arts Alliance, so she can continue this wonderful project. It’s up through June 1, so the next time you’re near 1980 Central Ave. in St. Pete, look for the colorful abstraction in the window.

ARTSY PARTNERSHIP: ME AND MY SHADOWBOX

It’s always cool to see the different interpretations that happen when a bunch of artists are given the same item to create on. For seven years, Ikea has partnered with the Dunedin Fine Art Center to provide 100 Ribba shadowbox frames. Artists create anything they want inside them, and then they’re displayed anonymously at a party, which is happening Friday night at the DFAC. Tickets are $20 advance, $25 at the door, which includes food and a raffle ticket for a chance to win one of the shadowboxes. Additional raffle tickets are 10 for $6. 6:30-8:30 p.m. at 1143 Michigan Blvd. dfac.org.
