New Port Richey gallery exhibit features local photography

NEW PORT RICHEY ó The Gateway Gallery and Emporium on Grand Boulevard starts off the new year with a new exhibit featuring the digital photography of David J. Wright. An opening reception will be held Jan. 5 at the studio. The varied works of 24 gallery members also will be on exhibit during January and February.

Wright, who is mostly self-taught, has been snapping pictures for more than 40 years. He got his start under the direction of Susan Joy Balin at Studio 212 in Tarpon Springs.

Wright is a native of Florida, born in St. Petersburg. He moved to Baltimore and lived there for 15 years before returning to Florida in 1995. West Pasco and Tarpon Springs are some of his favorite areas for taking photographs of natural landscapes and wildlife, as well as portraits of locals involved in helping the community.

The Gateway Gallery and Emporium presents the photography of David J. Wright, during the month of January. An opening reception will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. Jan. 5 at the gallery, 6216 Grand Boulevard, New Port Richey. Regular hours of operation are 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday and 12 to 4 p.m. Sunday. Call (727) 815-1222 or go to www.gatewaygalleryemporium.com
