The month of October brings several new art exhibits to local galleries. Of special note is the fine art of Frida Kahlo via a traveling exhibit at the Pasco-Hernando State College West Campus. The exhibit celebrates the artist's attention to Mexican and indigenous cultures and the depiction of the female experience and form, revealed in her paintings and self-portraits.

The Zooper Art Show and contest, featuring works depicting wildlife, will be on display through Nov. 3 at the Pasco Fine Arts Center, 4145 Fairford Drive, New Port Richey. The exhibit includes about 40 entries. An opening reception will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Oct. 6 at the center. Hours: 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays and 9:30 a.m. to noon Friday and Saturdays.
