The Center for the Arts at Gibbs High School in St. Petersburg is one of the oldest magnet programs in Pinellas County. Since it opened in 1984, it has nurtured hundreds of creative students studying performing and visual arts.
The Morean Arts Center, at 719 Central Ave. in St. Petersburg, celebrates the program's rich history as it nears its 30th anniversary with an exhibition of work by alumni, current students and past and present faculty members. It also pays tribute to the late Laurance Miller, a teacher there for 20 years. Among those exhibiting are Steve Beverage, David Bewley, Lauren Blackburn, Bede Clarke, Joyce Ely Walker, Myron Hansen, Alan Johnson, Marty Loftus, Yoko Nogami, Ralph Nurmela, Dara Vance, Melissa Wykell, Van Phrasavath, Jennifer Kosharek and Tes One.
Hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday and noon to 5 p.m. Sunday. Free.
