Selected in the first round (17th overall) of the 2009 draft out of Kansas State, he became the Bucs' full-time starter in his second season. He passed for 25 touchdowns with just six interceptions in 2010, leading the Bucs to a surprising 10-6 record one year after the team went 3-13. It marked the biggest single-season turnaround in team history. In 2012, Freeman passed for 4,065 yards and 27 touchdowns, both single-season franchise records.
