Tampa Bay can expect a cooldown as a cold front travels south down the peninsula to arrive by the weekend with lower temperatures and clear skies.

Highs on Thursday will reach 84 under partly cloudy skies with high humidity and a 10-20 percent chance of rain, according to the National Weather Service. Lows will drop to just below 70.

Weekend conditions should provide relief for folks attending the Sunshine Skyway 10K and the Tampa Pro after a month of record breaking warm weather.

The cold front arriving late Thursday night will bump up rain chances until late Friday morning, forecasters said. Temperatures will drop slightly below normal, just passing 70 before climbing to the low to mid 70s to start the workweek.
