Summer officially starts one week from today, but the familiar summertime pattern is firmly intact across Tampa Bay.
That means warm days, high humidity and a small chance for an isolated popup afternoon storm. In other words, a great opportunity to hit the beach to celebrate Father’s Day.
Winds from the southeast will generate increased humidity, and after Friday wake-up temperatures in the low-70s, highs will climb into the upper 80s to low 90s under partly cloudy skies, according to the National Weather Service.
A small chance for showers is possible along the coast early in the morning, and around lunchtime for the rest of the Tampa Bay area. Those showers will move inland during the afternoon — generating the best chance for rain east in I-75 — and drifting back toward the coast tonight, forecasters said.
Expect similar conditions to prevail this weekend, with only the chance for a strong isolated afternoon thunderstorm standing ini the way of an ideal weekend to make outdoor plans.
