Tampa Bay should continue seeing summer-like days through the rest of the week with sunny, partly cloudy skies and a chance for pop-up afternoon showers.
A light westerly flow off the Gulf of Mexico will help push coastal breezes further inland, carrying most of the showers into the peninsula by the early afternoon. The National Weather Service puts rain chances around 20 percent for most of the day, but highest in the afternoon when it is hottest.
EXTENDED FORECAST: The 10-day outlook for the Tampa Bay area
Afternoon highs will be in the upper 80s to lower 90s under mostly sunny skies, but feeling even hotter thanks to the elevated humidity, forecasters said. Overnight lows will drop to the mid 70s.
Expect similar conditions approaching the weekend, with hot temperatures and a consistent chance of afternoon showers and the occasional pop-up storm.
Rain chances will return to its seasonal average at around 40-60 percent by the end of the week, forecasters said.
