As folks in the Tampa Bay area plan out their weekend, they can look forward to clear skies and cooler weather.

That has to be good news for joggers in the Skyway 10K, as temperatures will be roughly 10 degrees cooler than last weekend. That race, which tasks 7,000 runners to run across the Sunshine Skyway Bridge, will be televised and begins on Sunday shortly after 6 a.m.

A thin line of slight showers will pass over Tampa Bay on Friday morning, but much of those will disperse by the afternoon, according to the National Weather Service.

Expect a high tof 79 by the early afternoon. Overnight temperatures will drop to around 59 before the cooler weather drags temperatures down to a more normal average in the low 70s.

A cold front, which will pass over the bay area throughout the weekend, will spread cooler, drier air.

Saturday skies should be sunny and clear with a high temperature of 73, with lows dipping to around 50, forecasters said. Sunday offers much of the same with a high of 72 and a low of 50.

Perfect weather to enjoy the Florida Strawberry Festival which opened on Thursday.

By Tuesday, another front may bring scattered and isolated showers, increasing the chance of rain to around 20 percent and increasing into the middle of next week, forecasters said.
