Forecast: A warm, humid Election Day ahead for Tampa Bay voters

Saturday's crisp, clear day seems like only a tease to the fall to come, as a warm front will dominate the Tampa Bay forecast for most of the week.

Humidity and heat will ramp up Monday -- the first day of the work week with the sun rising earlier -- with the arrival of a high-pressure system that also should keep rain at bay, according to the National Weather Service.

As voters head to the polls Tuesday, expect muggy conditions with temperatures running higher than normal. Rain chances will increase slightly, but any showers that do form will be brief and isolated as they pop up across Tampa Bay.

Partly cloudy skies will do little to provide cover from the rising temperatures, which should reach the mid to upper 80s by the afternoon, forecasters said. Overnight lows will dip into the upper 60s and lower 70s.

A cold front will wash out over the Florida Panhandle in the second half of the week, spilling scattered showers and isolated storms into Tampa Bay on Thursday. Temperatures will continue to be a few degrees above normal for the duration of the week.

A cold front will provide slight relief from the heat this weekend, but the southeastern wind will continue to spread scattered showers through Saturday. Expect temperatures in the lower 80s with rain chances around 40 percent.
