Tuesday's cold front has passed over the Tampa Bay area and high pressure has moved in, dropping some cool and dry air into region, according to the National Weather Service.

Commuters will notice morning temperatures about 15-20 degrees cooler than they were 24 hours ago as morning temps in the 40s and 50s rise to about 63 degrees in the afternoon. Northerly winds will set up a beautiful, sunny afternoon with a strong breeze. Winds should be around 10-15 mph, with gusts ranging from 20-25 mph. Winds will be especially strong over Gulf of Mexico waters, prompting the Weather Service to issue a small craft advisory for parts of Pinellas County and warnings of rip current risk at area beaches.

Temperatures will continue to dip late Wednesday evening and heading into Thursday. It'll be the coldest night of the week and one of the coldest so far this season. Overnight temperatures are expected to drop to around 47 in St. Petersburg, getting lowers as you head east, where Plant City should hit 40 degrees.

Temperatures are expected to climb back to the middle 60s Thursday and the cooler air should head north Friday, setting up a warm start to the weekend.
