The Tampa Bay region will have to endure one more day of pesky sprinkles and cloudy skies before high pressure takes hold, clearing the way for a warm and sunny end to the work week.
An area of low pressure that remains intact over the bay area continues to produce light showers that could last into Wednesday, according to the National Weather Service.
Skies will gradually clear as the frontal boundary works its way east, forecasters said. This will result in partly cloudy skies and highs near 80 with westerly winds shifting from the northwest by tonight.
Lows will drop to the upper 60s.
Sunny skies return on Thursday, along with warmer temperatures, as highs will reach the mid to upper 80s and inch closer to 90 heading into the weekend, forecasters said. Rain chances will be minimal.
