The Owl's Nest Sanctuary for Wildlife posted to Facebook alerting people that they had rescued a painted Gopher Tortoise. The tortoise is an threatened species in Florida and was found with painted nails and a portion of its shell.

Michelle Gibson crashed while attempting to flee a St Petersburg police officer during a traffic stop. Gibson's passenger, Tezra Alston was ejected from the vehicle and seriously injured in the crash. Gibson was later arrested and charged with DUI with serious injury and fleeing and evading.
