Catherine Shoichet started working at the Times as an intern in 2004, a few weeks after graduating from Harvard College. In 2005, she became a full-time staff writer, covering county government in Citrus County. Since 2007, she has covered growth and development in the Brandon area. Catherine also covers the communities of Apollo Beach, Riverview and Lithia. She originally hails from Michigan, and she's still a die-hard Detroit Pistons fan. When she's not reporting, Catherine enjoys reading, traveling and practicing French and Spanish. Every Tuesday, she sits in the back of the Tampa Bay Symphony's viola section, hoping they won't kick her out for being late to rehearsals so often.
