Robert Trigaux joined the Times as a business writer in 1991. In 2000, he began writing a business column three times a week. He was named Business Editor in 2005 but continues to write a weekly column on Mondays. In 2006, he played a major role in the conceptualization of the Times' new jobs section, Working. While at the Times, he has covered several beats including banking and finance, technology, telecommunications, energy and economic development.

In the late '70s, Robert wrote for various business publications in New York City covering, among other subjects, technology and the furniture industry. He joined a daily national newspaper, the American Banker, covering the financial industry in New York and London, then served for eight years as its bureau chief in Washington, D.C.
