03/29/11CrimeSPRING HILL — A Spring Hill man who found his estranged wife in a hotel room with another man was arrested after he knocked out the hotel-room window with a chain saw and punched the man in the face, an arrest report states.
Timothy Ray Brooks, 49, also was accused of breaking the windows of two cars, one of which belonged to the night clerk at the Best Western hotel at 9373 Cortez Blvd., according to a Hernando County Sheriff's Office report....

Soldier from Spring Hill found dead in Texas
07/22/10WarSPRING HILL — Police are investigating the death of a 27-year-old soldier from Spring Hill whose body was found early Monday morning behind a store in Killeen, Texas.
Sgt. Derek Peter Schicchi died from an apparent gunshot wound, according to a release from Fort Hood, where he was stationed. The incident remains under investigation, but there was no evidence of foul play, said Detective Terry Kaiser of the Killeen Police Department....

01/20/10AccidentsBROOKSVILLE — Amy Wilson tried to stay calm and give information to a 911 dispatcher, even as blood poured out of her wounded shoulder.
"A man came to the house and started shooting," she said. "I don't know who he is. We're all shot!"
Wilson was one of four women shot Thursday afternoon at a home on Wilhelm Road. Wilson, 33, and Manessa Donovan, 19 and pregnant, survived. Kathryn Donovan, 61, and Deborah Tillotson, 59, Donovan's office manager at a home-based color analysis business, were killed....

Hernando shooting victim pleaded for life, was shot anyway
01/15/10CrimeBROOKSVILLE — More than a year before she was gunned down, Kathryn Donovan asked for protection from her brother, John Kalisz.
Donovan confronted Kalisz in December 2008 with allegations that he had molested her two daughters, ages 17 and 30 at the time.
"After this confrontation, John Kalisz became threatening and assulted [sic] a friend with knife in my home," Donovan wrote in a petition to the 5th Circuit Court. "He has since been threatening myself and family and we are afraid of him. He is armed and dangerous."...

Spring Hill father accused of punching, injuring baby boy
10/30/09CrimeSPRING HILL — A 23-year-old man told Hernando County investigators that he "lost it'' when his 3-month-old son wouldn't stop crying, so he hit him in the head at least four times, according to an arrest report.
The infant later was taken to All Children's Hospital in St. Petersburg and is in serious condition, according to the report.
Michael Mihok at first told deputies that he fell asleep on his couch Wednesday with the baby in his arms, and that the baby then fell out of his arms and onto the home's carpeted living room floor....
