One of Latin pop's biggest stars is headlining one of Tampa Bay's biggest Latin music events.
Colombian reggaeton superstar J Balvin will headline 92.5 Maxima's annual Herencia Hispania (Hispanic Heritage) festival on Oct. 9 in Clearwater's Coachman Park. He'll be joined by Puerto Rican reggaeton act Wisin, Puerto Rican salsa singer and bandleader Gilberto Santa Rosa and more.
But J Balvin is the one to watch here. His singles 6 AM, Ay Vamos and Ginza have all been huge smashes, and his new single Safari features Pharrell Williams. This summer, the New York Times wrote that he was "rewriting the rules of what it means to be a Latin music celebrity."
"I want to change the perception about Latinos worldwide," J Balvin told the NYT. "I think people don't know yet how cool we are. When you see a movie, they always put the Latino on the bad side or in a tacky way. It's not like that. Latinos are shining like a diamond."
Tickets to Herencia Hispana 2016 start at $25, with kids 5 and under getting in free. Click here for details about the festival.
