The Saladino Dog Park will open with a ribbon cutting at 2 p.m. on Tuesday (Sept. 4) at the park, 1705 Bryan Road in Brandon. The dog park is Hillsborough County's newest addition for the furry friends within the community.

The new dog park is built on a portion of Bertha and Tony Saladino Park. The dog park includes 1.8 acres for large dogs and 0.8 acres for smaller dogs.

Both areas are fenced and include shaded seating, water fountains for people and dogs, and canine agility and play equipment.

The project includes the design and construction of a community dog park walking trail and various park site upgrades at the Saladino Park in the Brandon area. Residents of Brandon have asked for a dog park to be built within the community which led the county to move forward with efforts.

The dog park cost $600,000 in Parks Central Impact Fee Zone funds. Owners and dogs will have more than two and a half acres where they can frolic, fetch and socialize with other dogs.

Additional features include picnic tables, shelters, dog washes, a hitching post and doggie mitt receptacles.

The project also includes paved parking. The Hillsborough County Parks and Recreation will host the dedication ceremony held on location.
