HUDSON — A 70-year-old Hudson woman won $2 million off a Powerball ticket last week, the Florida Lottery announced Tuesday.

Alberta McPherson has claimed the prize from the Oct. 17 drawing, the organization said, with a ticket that matched all five white-ball numbers but missed out on the red-ball number.

McPherson bought the ticket from the Winn-Dixie on the 14000 block of U.S. 19 N. The store will nab a $5,000 bonus commission, according to the announcement.

The next Powerball drawing is set for tonight at 10:59 p.m. with an estimated $620 million jackpot. McPherson's win comes at a point of lottery fever — a single ticket sold in South Carolina netted someone a record $1.5 billion Mega Millions jackpot Tuesday.
