Well, it was long while it lasted.
After 13 years of marriage, Angie Harmon and Jason Sehorn are calling it quits. The actress and former NFL star — who in 2000 got engaged live on The Tonight Show With Jay Leno (watch it here) — confirmed their separation on Monday.
"For the sake of their children, they ask for respect and privacy as they navigate this time in their lives," Harmon's rep told People.
The couple wed in 2001 and have three daughters together: Finley, 11, Avery, 9, and Emery, 5. This will be the first divorce for the former Law & Order actress and the second for the ex-football star, who was married to former CNN journalist Whitney Casey for less than a year in 1999.
An unnamed source close to the couple says trouble had been brewing for a long time.
"A large part of it is when you spend five or six months a year away from your spouse, it gets really tough," the insider told Us Weekly.
The Rizzoli & Isles star decided the kids should be raised in North Carolina, even though she films her TNT show in L.A.
"She didn't want them growing up in Hollywood and being exposed to the fast-paced life," the source said. But the distance was too much to handle. "The dynamic of the relationship changed," the insider said of Harmon, 42, and Sehorn, 43, who's been raising the kids in N.C. while working for ESPNU.
A few years ago, Harmon opened up about the difficulties of a long-distance marriage/family.
"We don't get out Friday nights early enough to catch a flight home," she told Your Tango in 2011. "So I'm here (in L.A.). Sometimes we meet in Texas, a 2 1/2-hour flight for both of us. I miss my kids, so it's hard, but my children are so understanding."
Man. And we thought working nights was tough.
