PRIME-TIME PICK

Dirty Dancing, one of the sleeper movie hits of 1987, finally comes to network TV (9 p.m., WTVT-Channel 13). Patrick Swayze and Jennifer Grey star in this music-filled period drama that won an Oscar for best song (I've Had the Time of My Life, a top-selling tune sung by Jennifer Warnes and Bill Medley). Swayze plays the dance instructor at a resort in New York's Catskill Mountains in the summer of 1963; Grey, a doctor's daughter who falls in love with him - and the "dirty dancing" rhythms that he teaches (and which weren't in vogue in 1963, but audiences were more interested in the romance and dance than in strict historical fact). Jerry Orbach plays her father and Cynthia Rhodes is Swayze's dance partner. The irony of CBS' presentation of Dirty Dancing on this late date is that last season, it launched a Dirty Dancing series (featuring the hit song but none of the movie's principals) that lasted just 10 episodes.
