TAMPA - Playing in similar situations - district championship matches - Gaither's Chris Zambito and Bloomingdale's Steve Brady both scored improbable game-winning goals. PERFORMANCE OF THE WEEK
Brady, a senior, was trying to set up teammate David Allen, but his free kick from 45 yards out sailed over Allen's head and into the goal.
That score, which came early in the first half, held up as Bloomingdale defeated Brandon 1-0 for the Class 4A, District 5 title Friday night.
In the 4A-6 championship the same night, Zambito, a sophomore who had scored just six goals on the year, headed in a shot that had ricocheted off the goalpost. The goal broke a 1-1 tie and turned out to be the game winner as Gaither defeated Leto for the district championship.
